Un Chien Andalou

“The pure and correct line of ‘conduct’ of a human who pursues love through wretched humanitarian, patriotic ideals and the other miserable workings of reality.” This seems to be the general perspective of most writers discussing the film. Nevertheless, Buñuel offered an alternative explanation: “Our only rule was very simple: No idea or image that might lend itself to a rational explanation of any kind would be accepted. We had to open all doors to the irrational and keep only those images that surprised us, without trying to explain why.” -- Salvador Dali

After studying Surrealism and knowing that Un Chien Andalou was a surrealist film, I have realized that I was like a dumb while watching it. All throughout the video, I’ve been trying to figure out the meaning of this film or its message. It’s very weird and being structureless made me even more curious which resulted on to seeing myself paying more attention to it. And at the end of the film, I was more confused because I didn't understand anything about it actually then laughed at myself.

Well, although I find myself as dumb when I was watching this film because of trying to solve nothing, I still find this film interesting and funny because that is the trick of surrealist film. It will make you think that something is happening or there is a story which will make you to pay attention to solve your confusion even though there’s no logic and flow.
