THE FILM SCHOOL GENERATION

After watching this documentary, I came to realize how artistic and vivid the ideas of those directors who have not attended Film School.  But still, they were able to create fascinating films. Anyway, I’m here to talk about the directors who graduated from film school and known in film industry up to now: Steven Spielbirg, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Paul Schrader, and Francis Coppola.

spielberg

Steven Spielberg, the director of Jaws (1975) and a lot more blockbuster movies. He created films for the audience which I guess made him one of the most commercially successful filmmaker in Hollywood history.

lucas

George Lucas, directed the Star Wars films and Indiana Jones movies, both of which took on a cult-like following. He also created films for public interest.

scorsese

Martin Scorsese, the director of Godfellas (1990). I guess he is that type of director who creates film based on his own interest.

Paul Shrader, known for Taxi Driver (1976). His name is often linked to that of the “movie brat” generation.

coppola

Francis Coppola, he wanted to make his own studio. He also created films for his own interest. n the case of the Godfather films, their characters' relationships to "Michael Corleone" often paralleled their real-life relationship to Coppola.

These men created films which remarkable in the film industry. They may not have the same type as a director; there are those who made films for public interest and those who made films based on their own interest. And I think the ones who consider the public’s interest has more audience because everyone wants to watch films based on their interest. But these men who made films for public or not, still made an impact because of their vivid imagination and fascinating ideas.
